Siem Reap (KAMBODSCHA)

Die Stadt ist wie fuer Touristen gemacht. Gestern habe ich (Lukas schreibt ja jetzt immer allein) erst einmal alles Organisatorische geklaert. Nun finde ich mich gut zurecht, habe Geld in der Tasche und eine kambodschanische Telefonnummer. Die Landeswaehrung wird hier kaum genutzt. Fast alles wird in US-Dollar bezahlt. Heute Morgen lieh ich mir ein Fahrrad aus und radelte zu den Tempelanlagen Angkor Wat, Ankor Thom, Ta Prohm und noch einigen mehr. Es war ein lohnenswerter Ausflug. Manche nennen das Angkor Wat sogar achtes Weltwunder.

Vor etwa 1000 Jahren gab es hier eine Stadt mit etwa einer Million Einwohnern. Heute gibt es keine Bewohner mehr dafuer aber fast 3 Millionen Besucher jaehrlich.

The city of Siem Reap is made for tourists. It was easy for me (Lukas) to get Money (US-Dollars rule!) and a Cambodian SIM card for my mobile. I rented a bicycle today and went to the temples of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm and many more. A wonderful trip, although cycling isn't fun during the heat of the day. Some people call Angkor Wat the 8th wonder of the world.

About 1000 years ago 1 Million people lived here. Nowadays the ruins are abandoned but there are 3 Million visitors every year!
