Ko Lipe (THAILAND)

Nach vier Tagen auf der traumhaften Insel Ko Adang fuhren wir heute mit dem Boot zurück nach Ko Lipe, wo wir einer gemütlichen Bambushütte untergekommen sind. Diese Insel hat sich in den letzten Jahren stark verändert. Lukas war bereits 2003 hier und hat sie noch als ruhiges paradiesisches Eiland in Erinnerung. Damals gab es neben einem Fischerdorf nur eine handvoll Bungalows bzw. Bambushütten. Doch mittlerweile sind die Strände gesäumt von Resorts und Restaurants. Auch die Preise sind gepfeffert. Gab es 2003 eine Bambushütte noch für 5 Euro pro Tag, muss man heute ca. 30 Euro hinblättern. Das Fischerdörfchen ist inzwischen einer Wellblechhüttensiedlung gewichen. Eine traurige Entwicklung, die sich in den kommenden Jahren noch fortsetzen wird. Positiv ist, dass es nun auch eine Schule und ärztliche Versorgung gibt.

After 4 days on the paradisiac island Ko Adang we returned to Ko Lipe, where we stay in a bamboo hut. Lukas had gone to this island before (in 2003). By this time it was tranquil and beautiful. There were only a few resorts and a fishing village. Anyway, it has changed a lot since then. Beaches nowadays are packed with   restaurants and resorts. The once lovely Sunset Beach is not "inviting" anymore.

There are loads of tourists and it's hard to find a tranquil spot. We don't wanna be mistaken, it's still beautiful here but it used to be like paradise! This development will continue in the next years and we are sad that we've become a part of it.
